Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
As a child, Dr. Gakavian unfortunately had numerous not-so-pleasant dental care experiences, and he realized early on in life that dentistry could definitely be handled in a much better manner than what he received. He started talking about a career in the dental world before even starting high school, and the rest all fell into place! Today, he still derives a deep sense of pleasure whenever he can relieve a patient’s fears and make the process much more pleasant for them.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Gakavian achieved his dental doctorate at The University of Maryland at Baltimore, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1989. Since then, he has pursued continuing education whenever possible to further expand on his skills on a variety of topics.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Gakavian’s wife Lynne is retired and helps in the practice while also running her home-based business. They have two adult children named Alex and Neva. Outside of dentistry, he and Lynne have done multiple, hands-on home restoration projects, and he has a particular passion for art deco everything (architecture, art, collectibles, etc). Some of his other favorite hobbies include going on long road trips, playing golf, listening to vinyl records, and fabricating both resin-and-wood tables and different types of pens.
